There is nothing surprising in Busisiwe Mkhwebane jumping on to the bandwagon of those alleging racism in the impeachment of disgraced Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe.
After all, it must help the country’s first impeached public protector sleep better at night believing there is a conspiracy to rid the country of black achievers, instead of simply accepting that she was terrible at her job.
This is the same Hlophe who EFF leader Julius Malema in 2017 described as “the most worrying thing about our judiciary”.
“Principles for who? For what?” one can imagine them asking as they sidle up to every fallen leader.

Both Hlophe and the EFF should be taken to task for implying that black members of the judiciary, which is already under attack by crooked politicians, have been captured by nefarious forces out to stop black excellence.
It is also obvious why these allegations were not made in an official capacity (except for the dismissed claims against his deputy Patricia Goliath) since that would have required presenting evidence of said racism.
But this is exactly why those poor hard workers should reject these allegations with contempt.
In many cases, black people still have to work twice as hard to excel in traditionally white spaces, overcoming all the obstacles of our past. It is an insult to those who do so with integrity when those caught with their pants down suddenly pull the race card as a fight back strategy.
Hlophe and those who support him should be ashamed ... if they know what the word means.
