SA will remain in its current power crisis until a competitive electricity market is created so that consumers have a choice of suppliers, writes Eustace Davie.

Eskom, as a state-owned monopoly with centrally controlled oversight and direction, is not the best structure for the supply of electricity in South Africa, which is critical. No nation can grow and prosper without a reliable power source.
