An instrumentalist and performer of exceptional brilliance who distinguished himself as a prolific composer, arranger and producer, Manzini was also highly regarded as an influence and mentor by a younger generation of bass players such as Benjamin Jephta.

Born on May 30 1971 in Inanda, a culturally and historically rich urban African settlement situated northwest of Durban, Manzini’s childhood memories are aptly captured in his second album, 2003’s Tributes and Memories, which was released under his own label – Manzini Entertainment – and Gallo.
