Bonginkosi Khanyile was once a respected face of the #FeesMustFall movement. He went to jail, paying the price for fighting for the cause of young, poor black students who were financially excluded from universities.
But, in just a few years, Khanyile has shown himself to be a political thug ready for violence. Last year he was arrested for his involvement in the July unrest. Having dumped the ANC, he joined the EFF. Now he has joined the Patriotic Alliance and he should be in good company, as the party is led by fellow ex-cons Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene. How many months before he dumps them?

This week, ANC Eastern Cape chairperson contender Babalo Madikizela told his supporters ahead of the conference that they should expect to be bribed by Premier Oscar Mabuyane’s faction.
“They are the haves. We’ve got f*kol. They will give you money because they are part of the establishment. Take the money comrades, but do the right thing.”
He also advised his delegates not to go shopping immediately after taking the money from his opponents. “Take the money now and you can blow it on Monday.”
ANC and delayed shopping!
And Madikizela was fully prepared to explain away this shocking behaviour.
He was asked by Clement Manyathela on Radio 702 why he was encouraging unethical behaviour by telling ANC members to take money from those trying to buy votes. He said:
Indeed, finding themselves in tight corners probably explains why so many comrades are caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
For his part, Mabuyane said he did not have any money because he was “not exposed to it”. He said the money issue was a “spin”.
