Mampintsha’s mother Zamanguni Gumede, who sadly passed away at the age of 64 this week – barely three weeks after burying her music superstar son – was always going to be an important part of the series.

Though she might have lacked the political gravitas of slain US superstar rapper Tupac Shakur’s mother Afeni, who was a political activist and member of the Black Panther Party, or the philosophical nuance of Voletta Wallace (mother of US rapper The Notorious BIG), Gumede did things her own way.
