Government will appoint reserve bidders in the latest rounds of the renewable energy and battery energy storage procurement programmes to make sure that there are no delays in adding power to the grid. This is in case the initial bidders fail to close their projects, according to the head of the IPP Office, Bernard Magoro.
Magoro was speaking at a briefing on Bid Window 7 on Wednesday. The IPP Office held the briefing to provide more information on the bid window that seeks to procure as much as 5 000MW of renewable energy - 3 200MW of wind and 1 800MW of solar power.
The bid window was announced in December after many delays owing to grid capacity constraints, said Magoro.
