The CFA Society SA says the representation of black people, especially women, is not near where it should be in the investment industry.

The concept of "culture fit" that perceives blue, red and green bloods in corporate SA - and just not looking or sounding like people in the inner circle - has prevented many qualified and hardworking people from taking up positions in the financial and investment management industry.

This is according to Nerina Visser, president of the CFA Society South Africa, who said those who suffered or witnessed discrimination in the industry remained silent for fear of reprisal, due to political correctness, or chose to retreat from uncomfortable discussions.
