Babalwa Ngonyama, the embattled former University of Cape Town (UCT) council chair, has resigned from the board of Camissa Asset Management.
Ngonyama, who has been accused of dishonesty and governance failures while at UCT, quit as a nonexecutive director of Camissa Asset Management this past week. She has also resigned from the boards of Aspen Pharmacare, Vukile Property Fund and insurance group Hollard since the May publication of an interim report by an independent panel chaired by former Supreme Court of Appeal president Judge Lex Mpati, which found Ngonyama's continued presence as chair of UCT posed a serious risk to the institution.
"Her resignation was done this week," Roland Greaver, CEO at Camissa Asset Management told News24, adding that Ngonyama quit the company's board on Wednesday when pressed for a date.
