New Virgin Active Group CEO and Real Foods Group founder, Dean Kowarski, says he's "humbled" by his appointment and the health club's acquisition of his company.
The deal, which was announced on Friday, will see Kowarski head up South Africa's largest gym group. Virgin Active is buying his Real Foods Group company - which owns the Kauai and NÜ restaurant chains - for £28.6 million (R581 million).
"The idea [was] formulated two to three years ago in my head. We started some initial approaches and mutual discussions over 18 months ago," said Kowarski, explaining how the deal came about.
