While consumers are increasingly financially stressed, analysts believe Steers and Wimpy owner Famous Brands could still enjoy some tailwinds – including a boost from load shedding.
"People are saying: 'I'm just going to order takeaways, I'm not going to bother cooking in the dark with gas,'" says FNB portfolio manager Wayne McCurrie.
The company, which also owns brands like Mugg & Bean and Debonairs, reported a strong set of full-year results on Monday, increasing its full-year dividend by more than 80%. Its earnings rose more than a third.
