While KWV maintains the early exit of CEO Boyce Lloyd had nothing to do with the controversial television appearances of his wife, industry insiders and marketing experts said the company's brand was put at huge risk.
Last year, KWV said Lloyd would step down by early 2024. But on Thursday, the Paarl-based liquor group suddenly announced that CEO-designate John Loomes was taking over from 1 June.
KWV later sent another statement to News24 stating that it was "important to clarify that there were no circumstances of dismissal or forced resignation involved in this transition". No mention was made of KykNET series Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande, which instantly turned an outspoken Anita Lloyd into a controversial public figure.
