Spur Corporation has aggressive expansion ambitions over the next few months in SA, with plans to roll out up to 41 new restaurants across its brands.
In its previous financial year, it opened only a net 10 to 12 stores as the group continued to see a number of restaurant closures.
CEO Val Nichas said on Thursday that market share gains in SA’s current trading environment, where the consumer was under pressure, were going to "come through conquest". In other words: taking market share from rivals. This includes that group establishes a footprint in smaller towns or cities where it did not have a presence before.
