Shares in Sun International rose as much as 7% on Monday after it reported that a surge in online gaming and strong recoveries in tourism helped lift its interim revenue by double digits.
Standout performances came from SunBet in the six months to end June, whose new online slots business helped it more than double its income, while the group's hotels and resorts grew their revenue by just over a quarter.
While the group's casinos, which account for about 57% of total revenue in the group, delivered more modest single-digit income growth of just over 4%, CEO Anthony Leeming told News24 this part of the business showed "remarkable" resilience considering headwinds such as load shedding.
