In April, The Foschini Group (TFG) brought in the co-founders of South Africa's leading online fashion retailer Superbalist.com, Claude Hanan and Luke Jedeikin.

The pair is now running the group's technology division called TFG Labs. TFG Labs launched in June, shortly after Hanan and Jedeikin arrived. The fashion retailer went further and bought mobile software development company Flat Circle in September.

"We bought the business not because the business is going to make money for us per se or have a revenue stream," said TFG group CEO Anthony Thunström. Rather, he said, the rationale was "because you want all the talent that comes in that team."
