JSE-listed residential property developer Calgro M3 is pulling out of KwaZulu-Natal and is looking to trade out of two projects it had already started because of the notorious construction mafia in the province.

The firm, which also develops memorial parks, says the lives of its employees are constantly being threatened.

"You get so close to AK47s. You get demands. You get life threats on site managers. It's just not the environment you'd like to work in," said Calgro CEO Wikus Lategan.
