Everything came at once; losing her job, going through a divorce and being forced to relocate to look for a job she is still hunting for, seven months later.

The lockdown has brought with it many shuttering statistics: some 2.18 million jobs were lost in the second quarter, the country's GDP contracted the most in 13 years and the stimulus measures put in place to prevent total economic collapse have put the country on a debt-trap path. South Africa's debt- to-GDP ratio is projected to reach 95% within the next five years.
