Room to develop Covid-19 social relief measures, but avoiding debt crisis is a priority for Treasury

Poverty levels would have been a great deal worse, if it were not for the Covid-19 social relief measures in place during the first wave of the pandemic, a study shows.

The Southern Africa - Towards Inclusive Economic Development (SA-TIED) programme, held a webinar discussion on Monday where the spotlight was shed on a research paper focusing on the impact of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic on income poverty and inequality.
