Arrogance must be rooted out of public institutions and replaced with a return to public service, writes Solly Moeng.
"[Brand SA] is not at liberty to disclose internal matters in the media … there are numerous management and governance structures within Brand SA that address any issues the organisation may be facing. The media is not one such platform."
This is part of the arrogant response given by whoever manages media relations at Brand SA – a publicly funded institution – when they received media requests to clarify damning allegations contained in a letter of resignation from an acting position, by one of its senior directors, Petrus de Kock, last week. The statement went on to assert that Brand SA would not be drawn into discussing its internal affairs with the media.
