When Valery Nahayo was handed his senior national team debut for Burundi back in 2003, he had no idea how much of a life changer that opportunity would be.

Nahayo had only been playing in the top league for a few months and had never won any caps in the junior national teams so the debut against Bafana Bafana in a 2004 AFCON qualifier shocked him.
