The holiday season is here!
If you will be having little visitors or spending time with your little ones these holidays, here are a few DIY game ideas that will not cost you a cent.
1. Building blocks or towers
Children love building, so take advantage of that! You can build blocks with your child, or you can decide to make towers with ice cream containers.
You will only need blocks or empty ice cream containers with lids, or if you do not have ice cream containers, you can use any plastic container. You will be so amazed by how creative your child is. Layout the rules, demonstrate and let them wow you with their creativity.
2. Play hide and seek
If you have more than three young children this festive season doing nothing, you can switch things up by making them play hide and seek.
This game needs at least two players, but it is more fun if three people are playing it. In this game, one person is designated to check where others are while others go into hiding.
This game is fun for kids, but adults should supervise activities for safety.

3. Indoor ten pin bowling
All you need are some empty toilet rolls, paint, and a small ball.
Don't throw those empty toilet rolls away. Keep them for a creative game of indoor ten pin bowling. The game has two elements to it. The first part is to use paint to decorate the dull toilet rolls so they have colourful designs or patterns on them.
Once they've dried, stack them in rows on a flat surface and give the kids a small ball to roll and see how many pins they can knock over. Once done, pack them away to use another day.
4. A cardboard house or a box turned into a car
Don't throw out empty boxes when purchasing big new items for the home. Keep them for some creative and imaginative DIY projects.
An empty dishwasher box can be turned into a cozy little house, or add some wheels to a large square box to transform it into a car. Don't have any at home? Simply pop in at your local grocer. Many stores are more than willing to part with their empty boxes.
The best part is transforming the box into something magical. The more attention to detail you give the more the kids will love it. Create windows, curtains, doors, or even add a light to enhance the experience.
Let them join in the creative process of crafting the self-made toys and then watch them enjoy it.
5. A pirate themed treasure hunt
This is a fun one for all ages. Create a treasure hunt in the backyard or indoors. Dress up as pirates and hide clues in creative places.
Give the youngsters hints on where to look and throw in silly tasks for them to perform to get the next tip.
Test their knowledge, help them learn, and make it fun. What's at the end of the hunt? A hidden treasure of their favourite treats or snacks.
