"There's no problem with having a skinny model in an ad or a magazine, but when it's 95% of the time or 99% of the time, then there's something wrong." - says the gorgeous model Tristan Risk in an advert for A Perfect 14, a new documentary about plus-sized models.
We're so used to the exact same female body-type being portrayed as the only desirable and beautiful one in the media, when a stunning woman like Mindy Kaling said she's one of those women who are "always trying to lose a little weight, but I don't want to be skinny", it was a massive deal.
As Ruby Roxx says, "Everything you've ever looked at, since you were a little girl, is not you."
So it's about time we saw more and more models who, like most women, are "plus-sized". Bearing in mind, "plus-sized" has come to mean as small as an American size 6 - that's a size 28. As Tristan Risk says
"A photo or a spread of a plus model comes out: people are freaking out, and it's a big deal, and it shouldn't be - because we should be used to it."
