Over the last two years a large number of celebrities started their own YouTube channels, with celebrated actress and philanthropist Angelina Jolie having recently joined their content creation hype.

As a special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and a well-documented philanthropy work, Angelina Jolie has brought humanitarian content to the YouTube sphere.

This is adding to Victoria Beckham's quirky fashion and beauty content, Lorna Maseko's culinary skills and Rihanna's makeup tutorials that add a different dimension to the YouTube content landscape. It's great to see these stars sharing knowledge in different spaces to what we're used to them in. From Naomi campbell's jet setting tips and tricks, and a former ballerina turned Martha Stewart? These are the other celebs who have taken the leap and started their own channels:

Victoria Beckham

Famous for: Performing as Posh Spice in The Spice Girls and as a fashion designer

Posh Spice has long moved beyond her earworm music and is now the founder and at and designer at her namesake brand, Victoria Beckham. She officially launched her YouTube channel this November has already been posting beauty tutorial in between fashion collections and campaigns.

One of her most popular videos is her beauty series in collaboration with Estée Lauder.

What makes VB’s channel unique is her sly and lowkey humour.

When you do catch that she’s joking, it’s hilarious. It comes through mostly in her intros and outros that make her channel uniquely VB.

Lorna Maseko

Famous for: Playing host on Top Billing and the ballet scene

Lorna’s channel has been around for a minute and functions as extension of her cooking show The Hostess.

In November she officially launched the Lorna With a Pinch of Salt where she started cooking in her own kitchen. What's helpful about Lorna’s channel is that she has different series listed in episodes, which are easy to follow.

While her channel does have a television format to it with obviously heavy production behind it, it's still entertaining. The self-proclaimed "hostess with the mostest" has enough energy to fill the room and there’s never a dull moment.

Naomi Campbell

Famous for: Maintaining supermodel status and a being an advocate for diversity

“I’m opening up my life to YouTube. Action!”

These are the first words on Naomi Campbell’s YouTube channel with the hashtag #BeingNaomi. In the few episodes, she shared intimate details about her career and some details about her friendship with former president Nelson Mandela. Her channel debuted in time for the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 to commemorate Madiba’s centennial celebration.

Rihanna

Famous for: Juggling a singer-songwriter career with politics as Barbados' ambassador and a makeup and lingerie mogul

Rihanna first appeared, as what we can now confidently call a beauty influencer, on the Fenty By Rihanna YouTube page a year ago when she launched the makeup brand.

This October social media was shaken when she started her Tuesday tutorials series, following the hit her Instagram story tutorials had become. We got a sneak peak on what makeup lessons by Rihanna would be like when she shared the video she shot with Vogue, and it was bliss from then onward.

While we have seen a little spurt of celebs launching new YouTube channels, there are other celebs who started early and contributed to the new set of content on YouTube.

Karrueche Tran

Famous for: Actress and model

Karrueche started her channel sharing snippets of her acting career. She soon began producing beauty and lifestyle videos.

We’ve seen her cooking with Kylie and how the “Karrueche Tran bun” is done, a workout video, and plenty of makeup tutorials courtesy of her ColourPop Cosmetics collaboration.

Kylie Jenner

Famous for: Appearing on the reality TV series Keeping Up With The Kardashians and founding Kylie Cosmetics

Kylie started a channel with the Unlock My World series of videos around the time she launched her app. We have seen her cook, do make up tutorials, spied on her friendship with her best friend Jordyn and as a mother. Her most popular video, with whopping 78 million views, is dedicated to her baby girl Stormi.
