Beauty Booty: Clarins Everlasting Foundation, R335
Reviewer: Leigh van den Berg, Beauty Editor, Women24
Looking for a hardworking foundation that sits tight for a solid 15 hours, but won't look or feel as though you're wearing a mask? Pop on round to the Clarins counter. Everlasting foundation glides on and blends like a dream (something not every long-wearing foundation has down pat) and, thanks to an exclusive light-optimizing complex, it helps minimize the appearance of fine lines. I love that I can apply it in the morning and still look 'fresh' at the end of the day (and we're talking after an evening Pilates class, not just a 9 to 5). I also noticed that I was less oily on days I wore this and didn't have to blot as much, but by no means did it dry me out. In fact, it's formulated with Acacia extract to help supply continuous moisture to your skin. In all, a make-up bag all star.

Beauty Booty: Uriage Tolederm Soothing Cleansing Water for Intolerant and Hyper-active skin, R149.96
Reviewer: Meagan Carstens, Content Producer, Women24
The sudden chill that’s swept over Cape Town means that my cleansing routine has taken a knock. I now rinse my makeup off under a (gasp!) piping hot shower, leaving my skin feeling dry. It’s also lost its ‘summer’ radiance. Thanks, however, to Uriage’s new Cleansing Water, my face is looking bright again – literally. The mild cleansing agents (paraben-, alcohol- and fragrance-free) don’t leave your skin feeling dry or irritated, but rather, soft and hydrated. I’ll definitely recommend this product, especially to those of you with very sensitive skin.

Beauty Booty: PRIORI Advanced AHA Daily Defence SPF30, R425,87
Reviewer: Lili Radloff, Deputy Editor, Women24
Daily Defence SPF 30 contains lactic acid to help exfoliate and gently improve the appearance of fine lines while protecting against the sun. Being very pale and prone to freckling, I always jump at the chance to try anything with a high SPF. I like that I can wear this every day without the fear of breaking out. (AHA is ideal for problem prone skin as it helps keeps your pores clear). It has a thick, creamy consistency, but absorbs easily and doesn’t leave a trace of oiliness or shine, making it the perfect ‘base’ for foundation. My dry skin is now soft and clear. My only moan is that it doesn’t smell very nice (as is the case with all AHA products), but fortunately the scent doesn’t linger.

Beauty Booty: Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming makeup SPF15, R345
Reviewer: Sam Wilson, Editor, Women24
Lauder’s new anti-aging foundation includes the same ‘lifting-technology’ as their resilience lift skin care line. It’s also formulated to reflect light and offer time-released hydration to help keep your skin fresh, dewy and radiant looking. I have to say, it’s the nicest foundation I have ever used, and as the editor of a women’s website that’s saying something. I like the pump action bottle and love the fact that it glides on smoothly, blends well and gives natural-looking coverage so I don’t end up looking like a pancake.

Beauty Booty: The Body Shop Big and Curvy mascara, R115
Reviewer: Kele Scheppers, Content Producer, Women24
Packaged in a bright pink tube, this looks great and stands out instantly in your make-up bag, making it easy to find. Those with clumsy hands will love the surprisingly thin brush – you're less likely to smudge. The brush's long length also makes it easy to handle. Two applications will create a noticeable effect while three gives serious volume and curl. (It’s infused with Community Trade Marula Oil which helps ‘build structure to the lashes’). Did I mention my lashes didn't clump at all? In fact this seems to give them more definition - a great bonus. Lengthwise, I didn't notice much of a change. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants curly, voluminous lashes which last all day.

Beauty Booty: Vichy Normaderm Pro Mat Ultra-Mattifying oil-free lotion SPF15, R189
Reviewer: Catherine Shone, Restaurant Editor, Women24
My skin is combination so it tends to look quite shiny. Thus, I really liked how this soaked up all the oil and gave my skin a nice velvety look and feel. (It contains something called ‘blotting micro-spheres’). Still, there were certain days when I felt it wasn’t hydrating enough and that I needed just a bit more moisture. Having used it for a month, I’ve noticed my skin is now a lot less shiny overall.  I also like that it hasn’t clogged clog my pores and even though I know it’s technically impossible to shrink a pore, I feel like they’re looking a little smaller.

Beauty Booty: Nivea Expert Lift day cream SPF15, R194,95
Reviewer: Adele Hamilton, Editor, Parent24
Nivea’s new line aimed at more mature skin contains mega-moisturising hyaluronic acid and something they call ‘bioxilift’ - a 100% natural extract to help tighten and smooth. Their day cream comes in an elegant silver and purple glass pot that looks ever so swanky in the bathroom, but, as for the product itself, I found it a little greasy and sporting a floral fragrance that took some getting used to. Still, it was eagerly absorbed by my skin and my son thought my cheek smelled lovely. I’ve yet to see it tighten up my face, but in all, I reckon it’s a good everyday option for those of us on a supermarket budget with skin that needs a little more attention than before.

Which beauty goodies would you add to your make up bag?
