Bella Hadid says she didn't master the red carpet until she stepped out in a black latex leather and silk outfit from Chrome Hearts for the 2018 Met Gala - the first time she felt sexy and like herself.
Many of her fans may differ as the 24-year-old model has several memorable red carpet looks from long before then, having most recently turned heads with her golden lung Schiaparelli dress at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
She wore a long-sleeved dress in wool crepe with a low-cut neckline, and a gilded brass necklace in the shape of trompe l’œil lungs adorned with rhinestones, and secured another iconic look under her name.

Despite her winning red carpet style, there is one dress that she is still a little embarrassed about five years down the line. She revealed this when she was part of Vogue's "Life in Looks" video series, in which she went through some of her past red carpet, modelling, and casual outfits and shared the stories behind them.
At that particular event, the Cannes Film Festival, back in 2016, she wore a crimson silk Alexandre Vauthier dress with a thigh-high slit.

Bella shared that she remains uncomfortable about the attention the dress received. "So, this is apparently a very iconic red dress moment. This dress, Alexandre Vauthier made. I was nervous in this dress, I look very sexual and all these things," she shared.

"I was still very nervous about cameras and nervous about having a lot of makeup and nervous about this slit. I think there was one little slip that happened. I kind of still get embarrassed of this moment still. Even though the dress is gorgeous, it just doesn't feel so much like me. I think this was the Bella person that everyone sees of me."
The model also added that she sees the dress as an expression of her alter ego, 'Belinda', who is very 'va-va-voom' - the opposite of her actual personality.

Bella has modelled for big names such as the likes of Versace, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.
Although a regular participant in the annual Victoria's Secret fashion show, Bella admits she lacked real confidence until Rihanna allowed her to walk any way she wanted during her inaugural Savage x Fenty presentation a few years back.
Therefore, she credits Riri for her confidence while modelling underwear.
