When it comes to weddings, it is not a myth but a fact that they are always delayed. This can be a result of a number of factors, from the bride herself showing up late, the groom losing the wedding rings, the pastor arriving late, to the parents of the bride or groom showing up late.

In this situation, what does one do? Do you continue with the wedding or wait at least an hour? Well, this Reddit bride continued with her wedding despite her parents being late.

The anonymous bride took to Reddit to share her story, in hopes to get the opinions of users about whether or not what she did was unkind and inconsiderate.

She begins with sharing that she got married the past Saturday and everything was amazing excluding for one thing: her parents were late.

The bride communicated both face to face and through the invitation that it is critical that everyone arrives on time as the venue chosen was a bit pricey, the couple paid for the entire wedding and it was available for only a certain time so every minute counted.

The parents were expected to arrive half an hour before the wedding begun and upon seeing that they had not arrived at the time expected, the couple tried to get a hold of them and no one was responding or picking up the phone.

The couple waited for a while, until the time to start the ceremony arrived and the parents had still not yet arrived. “I was really [profanity] at this point. The wedding coordinator asked if I wanted to go ahead and start the wedding, and I said yes. All of our other guests were already there, and we wanted to be considerate of their time,” the bride says.

As the wedding ceremony ended, the parents arrived, making them 15 minutes late for the wedding. Their reason was that they did leave the house on time, however, they got involved in a rear-end accident, causing them to delay as they had to deal with the police, insurance etc.

The parents do not own cell phones as they use landlines, which meant they had no access to communicate the delay to the couple. “I'm still frustrated with them for not making more of an effort to get to the venue early, and they're furious at me for not delaying the wedding 15 minutes so they could be there,” the bride concludes.

Reddit users expressed their opinions on the story with some being supportive and some against the bride’s decision.

One user said, “This is the correct answer here. NAH. You did your best and had to work with your limitations (venue costs, rental times, etc), and they had an unforeseen accident. Sure, it'd be nice if they had a cellphone, but not everyone does. In the era before cell phones this sort of thing happened all the time.”

Another user added, “Honestly tho, (sic) who plans to show up exactly when the ceremony is supposed to start? Every wedding I have been to people arrived an hour or so prior to the ceremony.”
