Gifting a bride an unsolicited pregnancy tests is hardly a good idea

According to Metro, one wedding guest found this out the wrong way after giving a bride struggling with fertility a pregnancy test as well as baby jumpers and pacifiers as a gift on her wedding day.

Naturally the bride was upset and could not understand why anyone would give a bride such a gift in any case.

Even if we assume the guest was probably unaware that the bride was having issues with fertility, it's still terribly ignorant to assume that just because someone got married they would be having children immediately thereafter.

The disgruntled bride took to Twitter to vent in a tweet that read: "Someone gave me a pregnancy test, pacifiers, and onesies as a wedding gift and that is just super inappropriate?

"Even if I wanted children (which I don’t) I am infertile and a gift like that is extremely insensitive."

The tweet was then shared to a Facebook group and soon after generated hundreds of comments from other sympathetic Facebook users who mostly agreed that the guest was being insensitive.

Especially after the bride, who found the post in the Facebook wedding group, explained to them that the guests actually knew that she was infertile and not interested in having kids any time soon.

Metro reports that the bride said most of the guests at the wedding shared a "Mormon newly-wed" culture, which expected the new bride and groom to start planning for a large family soon after tying the knot.

The bride, however, can't and does not want children.

"These people know I’m infertile, and they know I don’t want to have kids,” she wrote in the Facebook post.

The guest in question had probably hoped that the gift may change the brides mind but instead ended up upsetting the poor bride, who seems to be tired of her family and friends pestering her about having children.

"They keep telling me over and over again, I’ll change my mind or that I’m being selfish and immature for not having kids. I have repeatedly asked them to not bring it up," wrote the disgruntled bride.

Facebook users were not impressed by this inconsiderate guest and all expressed their dismay at this unkind gesture. Read a few of their comments below.

One person says "This is incredibly weird and unacceptable, nothing would make that okay as a wedding gift." While another called the guest insensitive.

"And we could not agree more. While there's a lot of thinking involved before actually deciding what gift to get someone, it's best to go for something safer, like a blender or even cash.

"If all else fails and the couple did not have a registry, you could always give them cash."

Do you think this bride was overreacting and should've just shrugged this awful gift off or did she have every right to be upset? Share your thoughts with us here.
