- Starting from humble beginnings in the fashion world, Chandre Goosen-Joubert, aka Lady G, worked two jobs in the fashion industry, where she ultimately found her passion for garments and design.
- Her now established boutique fashion brand, Chandre and Co, stands for all things "Retro and Feminine" and is just one of the many business ventures that occupy her time daily.
- We caught up with Chandre in an all-exclusive interview and found out more about her boutique fashion label and her love of the fashion industry.
Chandre flirted with the idea of owning and starting her own fashion line for many years and recently launched her latest collection - the Truth or Dare Collection.
The designer, businesswoman, and mother of twins lives by the motto "just do it", which rings true for someone who is always on the go, 24/7.

This is what W24 learnt when we chatted to Chandre Goosen-Joubert:
As the owner of a fashion label, what trends can we expect to see this year?
Definitely something different to what we see now. Definitely, something that is a little more corporate but with a touch of "Chandre's retro magic."

Your latest Collection from Chandre and Co is called - The Truth or Dare Collection. Why did you decide to name it that, and what does it entail?
Being fearless is NOT known in the world; NOT knowing is good for the soul and MIND.
What does the Truth or Dare Collection embody and represent?
CHANDRE - a girl being fearless, someone who chases her dreams no matter who and what is said by judgement.

What collection pieces will we find in the Truth or Dare Collection?
A collection that exudes boss-babe mentality and London street-style.
What colours can we expect to see on the shelves this Winter?
Pastels and definitely my all-time favourite, black!
When is it available for purchase?

How does Chandre and Co stay competitive in a market saturated with boutique brands?
By being the brand and not competing. Be the BRAND, deliver your mindset in your creation.

What is one fashion item a woman should always have in her wardrobe, and why?
A belt - it's the most important item to have in one's wardrobe. It's a crucial piece of fashion that can turn something that looks dull into a stylish new look.
Are trends often repeated?
They are - if a certain style was a top seller, the chances of it coming back are very high. It will become the label's entry style for about two years, with a few touches and changes.
Are prints and patterns still in fashion?
They most definitely are. Prints and patterns will never go out of fashion as they are used by fashion labels every second season. They are a huge talking point and used in advertising for ramp-modelling.
What is your perfect daytime ensemble?
My Freddy Jeans and a comfortable tee, with bright lipstick and my Vovarova SA handbag.
You personally design all your clothing. Where do you draw inspiration from?
Yes, I do; designing is one of the best parts of being in fashion. Inspiration comes from everything around me, including my personality.
My new designs are inspired by one's daily lifestyle and knowing what every woman needs to feel comfortable yet stylish at the same time. We are also doing loungewear this season.

Who, in your opinion, has the perfect sense of style - local or international?
Definitely Stephen Van Eeden and Warrick Gautier locally, but international, there's no one else better than Oscar De La Renta.
How long does it take to create a statement 'Chandre & Co' piece from concept to the end product of producing it?
With faults and hiccups, I would say about a solid three and half months from start to end.
Where are your items manufactured, and is supporting local companies important to you?
Some are manufactured in Cape Town, and some designs are manufactured in the UK. Supporting local companies is very important to me as a businesswoman. The statement you make internationally as a brand also represents your country, which, I believe, shows loyalty to your local manufacturers and country.
What are some of the challenges faced within the fashion industry?
Materials and pattern cutters are out of stock or hard to come by regarding our import regulations due to Covid-19. But still, there are ways to work around it, like I always say, "just do it!"
What accessory is timeless and a must?
A clutch bag, definitely a clutch bag! A clutch can portray a mood, a theme and even an expression. It can be used for smart events, corporate events or a day-time luncheon. It's the "cherry on top" of the outfit.
