Without doubt, learning mathematics can be a stressful experience for a young child, and for many, it remains a source of worry throughout the academic journey.

"Children experience anxiety because often, maths seems overwhelming and feels like a subject that is difficult to achieve well in. This makes children feel anxious, develops avoidance, and often creates a negative attitude towards maths," says Philip von Ziegler.

As the country manager at Smartick, a local maths app and website, Von Ziegler is passionate about taking the stress out of learning mathematics and is urging parents to understand that the key to success in the subject is starting early.
