Eva Longoria wore a $40 (about R630) dress to her first Cannes Film event. While most celebrities step out in designer gowns and expensive diamond jewellery, the Desperate Housewives actress opted for a gold knit design when she made her debut at the film event held in Cannes, France, back in 2005.
Recalling how she found the garment while shopping in Los Angeles, "I was like, I'll just wear this one, this knit gold, that feels right," Long. "Nobody would've known it was a $40 dress."

Eva was looking back at the moment when she told People that it is confidence and style that matters, not the gown's price.
"It's not the dress, it's the woman who wears the dress," the 47-year-old said.
She told People how she was confused by questions from reporters wanting to know "who" she was wearing. "I was like, What do you mean? It's mine. Everybody just loved the dress, and I was like, it's just from [a store on] Melrose [avenue]!"
Earlier this week, at the opening ceremony at the 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival, Eva wore long, black chiffon slip dress with delicate ruffles and embroidered floral appliques from the Alberta Ferretti Fall Winter 2022 collection.
She accessorised the look with Chopard jewellery and Aquazzura heels.
