- Meghan Markle has mastered the art of sending messages with her style, and the outfit she chose for her and Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey didn't disappoint.
- In case you missed it last week, PageSix Style Editor, Elana Fisherman, and Director of Audience Engagement, Kristin McNamara, weighed in on the symbolism behind the look.
- And now, we've found a very similar dress - in both cut and print - that you can shop for just R700.
There was no shortage of symbolism in Meghan’s look.
But what dropped many jaws last week was the fact that it was revealed that the black Armani dress the duchess wore is worth $4700 (about R70 000). According to a spokesperson for the duchess, the lotus flower design was specifically chosen for its meaning of revival and resilience.

On social media, there were a lot of comparisons made between Meghan Markle’s Armani look and a portrait of fellow American (former) royal, Wallis Simpson.
In the portrait - taken a week before her husband, King Edward, abdicated - Wallis also sports a central-parted chignon with her silk dress look with a very similar floral print to the Armani frock. Elana, however, says the Twitter speculation was a "bit of a stretch."

And since only the top one percent of the population can just saunter into Hyde Park in search of the duchess' dress, we figured; why not shop it at one percent of the price, rather?
That's right.
The Paloma floral dress - similar to both Meghan and Wallis' dresses - has now been marked down to R699 (was R999) at the much-loved local store, Poetry.
Made locally, the Paloma dress is described as an "easy-wearing piece featuring a v-neckline with long elasticated sleeves and a flowy three-tiered design."
The dress comes with a sheer outer piece and an inner lining dress.

Plus, more sentimental details you might have missed about Meghan and Harry's outfits for their Oprah Winfrey special:
Meghan’s jewellery
In addition to pieces from Canadian brand, Maison Birks, she wore British designer Kevin Small - subtle nods to the two places she’s called home.
The duchess also wore Princess Diana’s diamond tennis bracelet. She’s worn this bracelet a few times before and is notably the piece Harry used to make her 3-stone engagement ring in 2017. At the time, Prince Harry said he chose it so that his late mother could be with them on their journey.

Prince Harry wore his favourite light grey J. Crew suit worth $650 (about R9 700), which seems to have a sweet connection to his son Archie. The Duke wore this suit for both Archie’s first public debut and his christening.
