How to lose a guy in 10 minutes

accreditation
If only choosing a man was as easy as choosing a piece of chocolate.

Many will seem tasty and inviting on the outside, but what is inside? A nut? A hard-to-chew caramel? A yummy cream? Looking into a box of chocolates is always exciting but how do you choose the one you want...or actually the man you want.

The question struck me one Friday night whilst sitting at a local lounge in the oh-so-romantic city of Cape Town when I was approached by a dashing young business man who seemed to tick all the boxes at first glance.

Two glasses of wine later we exchanged chat pins, said goodbye and to my surprise the rest was history...no, I mean literally history!
So here’s what transpired over chat:

The German: Do you like saying what you think?
Shivani: I speak my mind, is there a problem with that?
The German: No

Shivani: Ok
The German: What are you looking for?
Shivani: What do you mean?

The German: In general with me?
Shivani: Nothing in particular. What are you looking for?
The German: I’m leaving soon...so fun {wink}

Shivani: Oh I see. What kind of fun?
The German: Naughty fun...
Shivani: Oh, it’s a pity.

The German: You’re not interested in that?
Shivani: No. I don’t mess around.
The German: Hmm, so only when you have a boyfriend?

Shivani: Yes or marriage actually. That would be nice.
The German: That’s a shame...so are you sure I couldn’t convince you? I promise you could have fun too.
Shivani: No...thanks.

At that point my insides were curdling at his thoughts...he had lost me in just under 10 minutes. I mean do men not know about the ’90-day probation period’ that ol’ Steve Harvey coined?

In my books, he was out of the game and certainly needed to get his hands on these notable relationship reads:

Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man
This is a laugh-out-loud read from the radio show host Steve Harvey. Harvey gives a pretty realistic examination of how men think about love and sex so that women can set realistic expectations of the men in their lives.

Straight Talk, No Chaser
In Steve Harvey’s second book he zeroes in on what motivates men and provides tips on how women can use that knowledge to get more of what they need out of their relationships. Always wise, often funny, and incredibly perceptive, media personality, comedian, philanthropist and (finally) happily married husband, Harvey proves once again that he is the king of relationships.
