  • What's the best way to raise a Pisces child
  • Astrologer Rod Suskin says it's all about giving them lots of affection and time to play.
  • Find out about the needs, strengths and weaknesses of this mutable sun sign.

An imaginative, sensitive, snuggle-bunny - that's your little Pisces to a tee, says local astrologer Rod Suskin.

Ruled by the planets Jupiter and Neptune, Pisces is often portrayed as two fish swimming in opposing directions.

Born between 19 February and 20 March, a little Pisces is affectionate, kind and "very easygoing," says Suskin.

'They must get a lot of freedom to express their imagination'

Beneath this mutable water sign's aloof surface appearance lies a dreamy nature that often sees them "lost in a world of their own," the astrologer says.

But looks can be deceiving since these compassionate fish tend to form bonds easily.

However, their sensitivity often proves a mixed blessing, Suskin says, as their soft hearts may cause the shedding of many unnecessary tears.

To ensure their little dreamers thrive, the astrologer recommends parents provide lots of affection and playtime.

"They need to be exposed to positive, happy things, and they must get a lot of freedom to express their imagination and have it stimulated. They also have a natural spiritual side which should be nurtured," Suskin advises.

'They can overreact to simple things'

But your young fish won't always swim with the tide and may put up high walls when problems arise as they may not be open about what's bugging them.

They also tend to retreat inward when faced with problems, Suskin says, ignoring and evading difficult situations.

Your Pisces child will also be susceptible to the influence of their peers which might prove problematic in their teen years.

Suskin says another trait you might see in your Pisces child is the tendency to make a mountain out of a molehill.

"They can overreact to simple things, and they are impractical although very creative".

'Similar moods and feelings'

The astrologer says that when a Pisces parent raises a Pisces child, the relationship will be highly harmonious.

"Parents and children sharing the sign Pisces have close bonds, able to understand each other even without speaking and having similar moods and feelings".

However, certain signs tend to clash with the dreamy fish.

According to Suskin, Aries and Sagittarius parents who often aren't as emotional, may not be as sensitive to their Pisces children's needs. As a result, they come across as apathetic.

"Aries and Sagittarius can seem uncaring and insensitive to the Piscean child, who responds to situations they can't handle by withdrawing or crying".

Greater insight

Parents hoping to dig deeper into using astrology as a tool to better understand their children will find much greater insight in an astrological chart, Suskin recommends, since sun sign personality traits are pretty broad and generalised.

"Parents will learn a great deal by finding out from an astrologer…. the unique needs of the child that are revealed in the astrological chart".
