Megan Thee Stallion is investing in women's education. Plus, more celebrity-funded scholarships

For the second year running now, Megan Thee Stallion is part of the list of celebrities and public figures who have invested in the education of young women.

The 'Savage' hitmaker recently announced the Don't Stop Scholarship Fund to award two $10 000 (more than R165 000) scholarships to women of colour pursuing an associates, cachelors, or postgraduate degree in any field. This is in partnership with Amazon's Rap Rotation.

The scholarship is inspired by her new single of the same name, featuring Young Thug. According to a press release, she is incredibly passionate about the transformative power of education and remains a strong advocate for women pursuing a university degree. 

This is something Megan is doing herself - pursuing a degree in healthcare administration at Texas Southern University, while juggling her music career. 

This incredible investment in women's education reminds us of other stars who have done the same:

Bonang Matheba Bursary Fund

Bonang shared with TrueLove that the bursary fund has awarded ten girls with bursaries to study in various fields and in different universities in South Africa. She said the goal is to fund 40 to 50 girls by 2020.

Nomzamo Mbatha

Through her foundation - the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation - she partnered with Hollywood Bets to award students with study bursaries. Earlier this year, Nomzamo took to her Instagram to announce; "We managed to find over 60 beneficiaries to fund," and added, "Having my foundation be a beacon of hope and refuge is a gift I don’t take for granted." 

Rihanna

Founded in 2012, Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation supports and funds groundbreaking and effective education and emergency response programs around the world. 

According to the foundation's website, its current programs include primary and secondary education programs in Malawi, Barbados and Senegal, emergency response programs in the Caribbean and across the globe, and the Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program.

Gert-Johan Coetzee

Gert-Johan Coetzee offers bursaries at the North West School of Design to cover tuition fees and study materials, according to Channel24.
