MmusoMaxwell win the The Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation

MmusoMaxwell has won the prestigious Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation at the International Woolmark Prize.

The formidable duo, Mmuso Potsane and Maxwell Boko presented a Merino wool collection for Autumn/Winter 2022. 

The Woolmark company shared that the judges fell in love with MmusoMaxwell at first sight.

They showcased this collection, Ukholo - Faith.

Out of the six other finalists nominated in this category, the South African designers walked away with the AU$200,000 (over R2 million) to invest in their business development.  

"What an absolute honour to receive The Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation! A huge thanks to our machinist, textile collaborators, amazing fellow finalists and most importantly, the incredible compassionate panel of judges," MmusoMaxwell wrote on Instagram.

"Winning means everything to us. It allows us to continue working with artisans and to further explore with Merino wool, which is fantastic for us. It's mind blowing," Mmuso shared with the Woolmark Company.
