A new mother has revealed that her mother-in-law has shockingly demanded to breastfeed her baby.
One of the benefits of breastfeeding a baby is to grow the bond between mother and child, so when someone else wants to take the mom's role and breastfeed her child it can be quite disturbing.
The horrified mom shared her story anonymously via Reddit, expressing how awkward it was to reject her mother-in-law's request.
In the now deleted post, she wrote: "This 70-year-old woman plans to breastfeed [my] sister-in-law's first baby that's due in a six weeks. She read that grandmas help breastfeed babies in some cultures and wants to give it a go."
"Now that she's got this idea that she's going to breastfeed 'her grandbaby', she's started to come for me saying that she doesn't want a stronger bond with one baby more than the other (my youngest baby is two months)."
"And since he's already here, she wants to start 'practicing' breastfeeding with my baby in hopes it goes well and then she can breastfeed both my baby and [my] sister-in-law's baby."
"She says she wants to breastfeed them at the same time... like her eyes gloss over as if it’s some dream of hers to tandem feed them," she wrote.
"I can't even. This woman is a special kind of delusional. Can women that age really even re-lactate?"
Her husband tried to have a word with his mother, telling her that they don’t want her to do this, but she got angry, saying that she is being denied this bond with her grandchildren.
The mom says she advised her mother-in-law to make a lactation appointment with her doctor to find more information about this, if it is so important to her.
