Rihanna is about to unveil a deeply personal new fragrance inspired by memories of her childhood in Barbados.

The popstar has been teasing the release of her debut perfume for several weeks, and on Monday, confirmed that Fenty Eau de Parfum will be be available to purchase via her Fenty Beauty website on 10 August.

Rihanna teamed up with master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud to create the scent, which contains notes of Bulgarian rose absolute, geranium, and patchouli.

The fragrance is said to combine sensual magnolia, vibrant fruit, and warm spice notes for a deeply intimate, unisex scent.

Regarding the perfume, the singer shared that she was inspired by her memories of growing up in Bridgetown, Barbados.

“There’s so much more beauty that was brought through fragrance in my household. That always felt like hope, it always felt like it was a new day. I grew to love all the different aspects of fragrance. When you walk into the store, how a hundred fragrances can make one store smell like something special, even though they’re from all different walks of life,” the 33-year-old said.

“They were all made by different noses and perfume experts, and these are the people that create the scents that are connected to memories that last forever. The experience, it comes and goes. But memories are the thing that you can hold onto for life. And a lot of the time, the memory of that time is triggered by scent.”

Fenty Eau de Parfum is priced at $120 (about R1 725) per bottle.
