"Please come, don't abandon me," says Ana de Armas tearfully in the teaser for the Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde.
"She's coming; she's almost here," replies a make-up artist as De Armas transforms into a laughing, smiling Monroe at the end of the clip.
On Thursday, Netflix released a first look at the film based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates, written and directed by Andrew Dominik.
"Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood's most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves," reads the official synopsis.
Alongside a slideshow of photos in character, the Spanish-Cuban actor wrote: "Blonde. What a beautiful dream!"
She continued: "Andrew's ambitions were very clear from the start — to present a version of Marilyn Monroe's life through her lens. He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.
Blonde also stars Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.
The film premieres on the streaming service on 23 September.
