As a young girl, Elke Schepers did not have a high opinion of her own dancing, and she never dreamed of becoming a famous ballerina. "The whole way I moved towards a great career in dance just happened to me. I didn’t think I was the best girl in my class, I was very weak in my ankles and my pointe work wasn’t really that good." Then one day, Schepers was invited to take part in a class with the junior company of Nederlands Dans Theater, one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies.
