R&B artist Ciara has revealed why she ended her relationship with rapper Future.

The One, Two Step singer appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast and discussed her relationship with the hip-hop artist.

The podcast, hosted by Alexandra Cooper, focuses on themes of sexuality, relationships and culture, frequently featuring interviews.

Ciara shared on the podcast how she changed personally and that impacted her feelings toward Future:

"It's almost like your taste buds change… You gotta also sometimes look in the mirror and reflect on yourself, like what are things that I could be doing differently in my life? I'm looking for a change but what does that mean?"

Becoming a mother also affected her relationship.

"When you have a child, it's very important to me, like now it's no time to play around. The whole experimentation kind of phase is out the door. I am now responsible for another life."

"So what am I doing? How am I thinking that through? We get tired and we don't want to be tired all the time. I'm like, I want joy. I want to make sure my cup is full," she added.

She stated that she tries to apply that sentiment in different aspects of her life.

"I don't care if it's a relationship or friendship, business, whatever it is. Don't let it waste your time. It's just not worth it. Those are things that come to my mind, how I process when there's a pivotal moment in my life, and in any aspect of my life."

Ciara and Future started dating in 2012 and later got engaged but split in 2014. They also had their son Future Zahir in 2014.

After her relationship with Future, Ciara dated American football quarterback Russell Wilson. The two have been married since 2016 and are expecting their third child together (Ciara's fourth). She shares Sienna Princess and Win Harrison with Wilson, with Future Zahir being part of the family.

Ciara described Russel as an "amazing father".

"Watching him with all of our kids, it is one of the sweetest things. It's one of the sexiest things, to be honest with you. I'm just saying, ladies, when a man jumps in and changes the diaper, and he's pulling up to teacher-parent conferences, it's like, 'Ooh!'"

Future seems to carry some bitterness around his split with the singer and has made numerous unflattering comments about Ciara publicly.

He seemingly referenced his relationship with Ciara on a song he released this year called Turn Yo Clic Up. He rapped, "I got it out the field, Fuck Russell," which could be a reference to Wilson.

Future previously made verbal shots at Wilson in 2019 on the Freebandz Radio Presents: The Wizrd show.

He complained about how Wilson was not stopping Ciara from making swipes at him on social media:

"He not being a man in that position. He not telling her, 'Chill out with that on the internet. Don't even talk to him. I'm your husband! You better not even bring Future's name up!' If that was me, she couldn't even bring his name up. She know that. She couldn't even bring her exes' names up."
