Miss Earth South Africa first runner-up, Belindé Schreuder, will represent the country at the international Miss Earth beauty pageant.
The 23rd edition of this international beauty pageant, one of the 'Big Four,' will take place on 22 December at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
According to the organisation, Miss Earth South Africa is a leadership and empowerment programme for young women. Its goal is to equip young women with the skills and know-how to address various social and environmental challenges in their communities, turning them into ambassadors and strong pillars of support as they venture out into the world. With this programme, they can make a positive and tangible difference for both people and the planet.
Schreuder, who hails from Pretoria, is a small business owner, make-up artist, and third-year communications student at UNISA.
She is a seasoned beauty pageant contestant, boasting prestigious titles, including Miss Supranational South Africa 2018, Miss Grand International South Africa 2020, and World Supermodel South Africa 2017.
According to a press release, Schreuder's fervent love for animals and the natural world led her towards diverse conservation projects, harmonizing her adventurous spirit with a burning desire to leave a positive imprint on our planet.
Miss Earth South Africa 2023, Zabelo Hlabisa congratulated Schreder and said, "Now, let's work for that international stage. I am with you, and I will support you all the way! I am excited for your journey. Let us go represent our rainbow nation and show them what we are made of. Our sisterhood is about to be lit!"
