  • Late rapper AKA's mother, Lynn Forbes, said the beef between her son and Cassper Nyovest was "real".
  • Despite believing the beef was real, Forbes admitted she did not know the intricacies of its origins.
  • Though police investigations continue into AKA and Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane's murders, no arrests have been made thus far.

Lynn Forbes, the mother of late rapper AKA, believes that the beef that existed between her son and Cassper Nyovest was "real".

Forbes shared this in a recent interview with SA Hip Hop Mag via its The Episode Podcast, where they, among others, discussed the infamous beef between the two musicians, upcoming plans to keep AKA's legacy alive and her feelings about the ongoing investigation into his murder.

AKA was shot and killed in Durban earlier this year alongside his friend and former manager Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane.

"I think it was real," she said. "I'll tell you why – Kiernan would talk to me, you know, and if it wasn't real, I would've picked it up."

Despite believing the beef between the two was real, Forbes admitted that she did not know the intricacies thereof. She said she also did not know how it started.

"Boys will specifically only tell their mom the things they think their moms need to know because they're protective and all that," she said.

I believe it was real because if it wasn't real, I think I would have picked it up in the conversations.

While Forbes might believe that the beef between her late son and Nyovest was real, the Tito Mboweni hitmaker dedicated Candlelight, from his latest album, Solomon, to AKA.

At the album's September launch, Nyovest said though they might have been considered enemies in the music industry, he was affected by AKA's murder as he used to draw inspiration from him. He added that Supa Mega [as AKA was also known] also motivated him to do better.
