  • Adele's Saturday Night Live hosting debut spiked ratings.
  • The 24 October show drew a 5.0 overnight household rating - higher than the previous two weeks.
  • Though Adele didn't release any new music, she did comment on her new album, sing during the show, and even break her silence on her much talked about weight loss.

Adele made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut on 24 October – and she killed it!

The show drew a 5.0 overnight household rating – higher than the previous two weeks with host Issa Rae and musical guest Justin Bieber, and the week before with Bill Burr and Jack White.

In her opening monologue, the singer joked about her weight loss transformation that people can't seem to get over, and though she didn't release new music after much speculation, she did end up singing on the show.

"I know I look really, really different since you last saw me," Adele said, opening the show. "But actually, because of all the Covid restrictions... I had to travel light, and I could only bring half of me. And this is the half I chose."

On rumours she'd be singing too, she said she was "too scared" to have to do both, and added: "I'd rather just put on some wigs, have a glass of wine or six and see what happens."

She added that her album was not finished, but during a sketch of The Bachelor, did end up singing on the show.

"I'm here because I've had a lot of heartbreak in my life - first at 19 and then, sort of famously, at 21 and then, even more famously, at 25," she joked during the sketch, referencing the titles of her first three albums.
