Speaking to Channel24, Nondumiso Simelane confirmed that the couple's son was born on Wednesday. "Babes and her newborn baby boy are perfectly fine, well and healthy. She is so much excited about this new journey of motherhood. First, she got married to the love of her life, and now she is a mother to a blessing. The Maphumulo and Simelane family are over the moon with excitement," she said in a statement.

Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha have welcomed their first child together, according to an Instagram post shared on the Wololo singer's Instagram. The singer did not confirm the child's date of birth.

The announcement on Wednesday coincides with the release of the trailer for the couple's upcoming Showmax reality series, Uthando Lodumo.

"Unkulunkulu emuhle njalo (God is always good)" Babes captioned a photo taken at the hospital with her newborn. "Our beautiful blessing is finally here," she continued.

The couple has not announced the gender of their first child or the name.

Rumours that the couple were expecting a child first started swirling in March, but both declined to comment on media speculation.

The pregnancy was confirmed in the trailer for the 3-part reality TV series, premiering on Showmax on 30 June.

Mampintsha popped the question in October, and according to reports, the couple tied the knot in April.

Channel24 reached out to Nondumiso Simelane to comment on the child's birth but not receive a response at the time of publishing.
