  • Rickey Smiley has revealed that his daughter was shot three times over the weekend in Houston.
  • The 19-year-old was grabbing dinner when she was caught in the crossfire as a vehicle pulled up next to another and opened fire.
  • She has since had surgery and said the incident was "the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me".

Rickey Smiley shared on Monday on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show that his daughter, Aaryn, had been shot multiple times while getting food in Houston over the weekend.

"I wasn't even going to say anything about this. I've been dealing with this all morning, sitting up here with butterflies in my stomach trying to do the show. My youngest daughter was shot last night," he said. "She's in the hospital right now. I'm just so angry right now."

According to People, police confirmed that three men had stopped at a traffic light when another vehicle drove by and began shooting. A female passenger in a separate car, assumed to be Aaryn, was caught in the crossfire. USA Today reports she was shot three times.

After Aaryn's surgery, Rickey took to Instagram and shared in a lengthy video: "I'm grateful. I'm more than grateful that my daughter is alive."

He later added in a separate post that the 19-year-old is "doing great".

Aaryn was reportedly celebrating her birthday on Sunday when she was struck.

She, too, took to social media to share an update with an image of a blood-stained car seat on Instagram.

"This is the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me," she wrote. "I won't be out of the hospital for a while nor will I be able to walk for a while due to nerve damage."
