"It's real," Angus Cloud says of the scar on his head. "I broke my skull on Friday the 13th."

In a new interview with Variety, the actor details an incident in 2013 that saw him alone in the dark when he left his group of friends and unable to see the construction pit before him when he fell.

"I woke up 12 hours later at the bottom," the star, who plays Fezco in HBO's Euphoria, recalls. "I was trapped. I eventually climbed out after — I don't know how long. It was hella hard to climb out because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn't, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain. But they wasn't gonna find me down there. I found myself. Or God found me, whatever you want to call it [sic]."

The actor says his vision blurred as he made his way home "in survival mode".

His mom thought he was on drugs because his pupils were "hella dilated". Fumbling, he made his way to bed, but, thankfully, his mom wouldn't let him sleep. "I would have died," he says.

"She gave me some water, and I started throwing up hella mouthfuls of crimson red blood. Shit was crazy. So then my mama took me to the children's hospital, and they saved my life. That's what the scar's from [sic]."

They cut my head open, they put some screws and a plate over where I broke my skull and — shit, sealed me back up, and that was that.

Similarly, the star's character in Euphoria also suffered a blow to the head when he was accidentally hit with a crowbar by his grandmother while he was trying to stop a fight. The injury explains why he dropped out of high school, and his speech appears slowed.

He says, however, he "brought a lot to the character", and he isn't just playing himself.

Cloud's interview is part of Variety's 2022 Power of Young Hollywood feature, also including Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, Halle Bailey and Becky G.

Euphoria, seasons one and two, is currently streaming on Showmax.
