Prince made headlines when he painted NBA-star Carlos Boozer’s Beverly Hills home in purple stripes in 2005.
It all started when the famed singer set his sights on the home which boasts a rooftop tennis court indoor gym and sports court and a pool with stone grotto reminiscent of the Playboy Mansion. He offered to pay the professional basketball player $95 000 (R1.7 million) per month to rent it out – and he accepted.
But Boozer eventually returned to find his home covered in black and purple. The weight room was turned into a disco dance floor, and his bedrooms converted to a hair salon and massage parlour.
He was furious, even threatening to sue. So the Purple Rain hitmaker returned everything to the way it was – and they were best friends up until the singer died in 2016.
Now, the mansion where Carlos Boozer, Prince, and even Elizabeth Taylor once lived, the mansion with ten bedrooms, 13 baths, a ballroom, wine room, large terraces with a rooftop tennis court, indoor gym and pool, with views of both the city and the ocean, is up for sale.
It is currently going for $29.995 million (R541 million), but you can lease it for a steal at $80 000 (R1.4 million).
Hey, it’s still cheaper than what The Purple One paid.
