  • Grimes is supporting Lizzo as she faces allegations of sexual harassment and mistreatment.
  • The claims were brought forward by three of her former dancers.
  • The pop star has denied the allegations, calling them "as unbelievable as they sound".

Canadian singer Grimes has come out in support of Lizzo after she was accused of, among other things, sexual harassment by her former dancers last week.

The pop star has since denied the allegations, calling them "as unbelievable as they sound".

Taking to social media, Grimes said: "Not saying I don't believe ppl when bad things happen, but I had dancers mistreated on my watch in ways I didn't find out about until way later. Mebe shit is bad, but loyalty matters to me. (sic)"

"Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was 'cool', and she checked in on me when no one cared. I've only ever seen exemplary behaviour from her, especially when everyone hating on me and she was on top of the world," Grimes continued.

"There was no reason for her to check in besides to be a good person. Just my two cents. I recall when she first blew up, being so happy because I'd never known such an admirable person to find fame in the music industry."

The producer and performer added that she struggled to believe Lizzo "would have changed so drastically" and that she is "tired of a culture that seeks to destroy its greatest virtues."

"Lizzo is amazing," she concluded her post.

One of the allegations made by the Good as Hell hitmaker's three former dancers centres around an Amsterdam red-light district sex show which the dancers said they felt pressured to attend. At the show, Lizzo allegedly pressured them to interact with nude performers.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles, also alleges that Lizzo's dance leader Shirlene Quigley regularly made sexual comments and proselytized her Christian beliefs, especially against pre-marital sex, "regardless of protestations".

Soon after her post, a social media user commented and said Grimes only supported Lizzo because of her riches and wealth.

"Lizzo was nice to me before Elon when she blew up, and I was indie as fuck. She was nice to me in, like, 2012 before anyone cared abt either of us (sic)," Grimes said in response. "She checked in while I was cancelled a f while I was pregnant when most people abandoned me because they didn't want the association; she was kind when only a liability to here. I respect that hardcore. That's a good person."

Musk and Grimes share two children, with their second born via surrogate, in December 2019.

After Lizzo's former dancers came forward, filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison also spoke about experiencing mistreatment when she was briefly director of the 2022 documentary Love, Lizzo.
