The video streaming platform YouTube has suspended the monetisation of Russell Brand's channel for violating their Creator Responsibility policy, according to the Independent.

Brand's channel was suspended from the YouTube Partner Program due to the sexual assault allegations against him.

Brand will still be able to upload videos but will not be generating income from his content. YouTube's decision to suspend Brand's monetisation applied to all channels that are owned or operated by him.

YouTube said in a statement:

"We have suspended monetisation on Russell Brand's channel for violating our Creator Responsibility policy. If a creator's off-platform behaviour harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we take action to protect the community."

Brand's videos often centre around spirituality and politics.

His YouTube channel attracted controversy when he questioned the Covid pandemic to his subscribers. He argued that the pandemic was exaggerated, AFP reported.

Brand's publisher has also put all future publishing with him on hold. His 'Bipolarisation' live tour has also been postponed.

Earlier this week, it was reported that four women made allegations of sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013 against Brand.

UK police said on Monday they received a report of alleged sexual assault against Brand.

The Metropolitan Police said:

"On Sunday, September 17, the Met received a report of a sexual assault which was alleged to have taken place in Soho in central London in 2003. Officers are in contact with the woman and will be providing her with support."

"We first spoke with The Sunday Times on Saturday, September 16, and have since made further approaches to The Sunday Times and Channel 4 to ensure that anyone who believes they have been the victim of a sexual offence is aware of how to report this to the police."

The BBC and Channel 4 said they were investigating claims of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse against the actor, comedian and presenter, according to AFP. The BBC and Channel 4 were former employers of Brand.

Several women made accusations against Brand concerning his alleged controlling, abusive and predatory behaviour. Brand has denied the allegations in a video.

"Amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute," he said in the video clip.

One woman alleged that Brand raped her in his Los Angeles home, while another claims he assaulted her during a three-month relationship while she was 16 and still at school, AFP reported.
