Jimmy Kimmel is returning to host the 2024 Oscars for the fourth time in his career. Many consider him a safe bet after the drama caused by Chris Rock getting slapped by Will Smith.
Kimmel hosted in 2017, 2018 and 2023, and ranks fourth as the person with the most repeat hosting slots, tying with two other celebrities, Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon.
Throughout the years, the Oscars have seen many hosts, with the event entering its 96th edition next year. The ceremony started in 1929, being hosted by Douglas Fairbanks, the Academy president, and William C de Mille, the Academy vice president.
