"Marilyn Monroe only exists on the screen," Ana de Armas says in the trailer for Blonde.
The two-minute clip of the Andrew Dominik film released by Netflix is based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates.
"Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood's most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves," reads the official synopsis.
In the chilling trailer, Ana de Armas unravels as Marilyn Monroe as the trailer tracks her life in the spotlight.
"Watched by all, seen by none," it says, set to Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.
